The Role
As a Legal Secretary within the Agricultural Law team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality administrative and secretarial support to solicitors handling a wide range of matters, including farm sales and purchases, agricultural tenancies, land and estate management, rural business structures, and related property transactions.
This position is ideal for a proactive and adaptable individual who enjoys a varied workload and thrives in a professional, client-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide efficient and accurate secretarial support to fee earners within the Agricultural Law and Rural Property teams
- Prepare, format, and proofread a wide range of legal documents including contracts, deeds, tenancy agreements, and correspondence
- Manage diaries, schedule appointments, and coordinate key dates and deadlines
- Liaise professionally with farmers, landowners, rural businesses, and external professionals
- Maintain well-organised case files and legal documentation
- Assist with the preparation of bundles and support the progression of agricultural and rural matters
- Record time entries accurately and support billing and expenses processes
- Offer dependable cross-department administrative support during busy periods or staff absences
What They're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Legal Secretary, ideally within property, commercial, or rural/agricultural work (though strong secretaries from other areas will be considered)
- Excellent organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively
- Confident communication style with a professional telephone manner
- Strong IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office and legal case management systems
- Exceptional accuracy, attention to detail, and a proactive approach
- A flexible team player with a commitment to delivering outstanding client service
